JAMMU, Apr 9: National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) today celebrated its foundation day by hoisting its flag at J&K Pradesh Congress Committee office in Jammu.
On the occasion, Amit Pathania, national secretary NSUI and incharge J&K, was present as the chief guest along with Neeraj Kundan, State president, NSUI. The flag of NSUI was hoisted by Amit Pathania.
Speaking on the occasion, Amit Pathania threw light on history of NSUI, which is the largest democratic students’ union of the world and had been founded by Late Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi by amalgamating Kerala Students’ Union and West Bengal Chattra Parishad on April 9, 1969.
“We shall feel proud to be the part of this union as every great leader has been a part of a student union and NSUI is the only union in the country which has created the leaders,” he added.
While talking to the students, Neeraj Kundan said that the NSUI takes the pledge to work for the betterment of the student community in the future also and will maintain its legacy. He said that NSUI will organize a host of activities in future which will benefit the students of the State in a larger interest.
The program was organized by Parikshit Shagotra, State general secretary NSUI.
Other NSUI leaders, who were present on the occasion, included Amjad Batt, Nasib Ali, Avijot Singh, Wazaid Shah, Abhishek Dogra, Nishant Gupta and Rajat Goswami.
