POONCH, July 27: In a continued crackdown on bovine smuggling, the Poonch Police successfully intercepted a smuggling operation today, rescuing six bovines and arresting the smuggler. The operation was conducted under the overall supervision of SSP Poonch, Yougal Kumar Manhas.
The police team, led by Incharge Police Post Behramgala PSI Rahul Angral and supervised by SHO Surankote Rajesh Kumar Thappa, intercepted a Tata mobile vehicle (registration number JK11C/9104) during routine checks. The vehicle, driven by Ajaz Ahmed, son of Abdul Majid and a resident of Lah, Tehsil Thannamandi, District Rajouri, was found to be transporting the bovines illegally to Srinagar without valid permission.
An FIR has been registered under Number 180/2024 U/S 223 BNS at Police Station Surankote, and further investigation is ongoing.
