Handicapped Welfare Association discusses demands

DODA, Apr 2: Jammu and Kashmir Handicapped Welfare Association held a meeting to discuss their demands.
Niaz Ahmed Mir, teshil president of the association urged the Government to enhance the pension of the disabled persons from Rs 400 to Rs 1500 pm and it should be continue without any delay. He further disclosed that there are many pending cases of old-age disabled, widows and others under NOAP, ISSS and NFPBC schemes in district Doda. But till date no funds were allotted by the Social Welfare Department for the same.
Later on, district president of the association stressed upon the State Government to release the pension of old-age persons which is pending from September 2013. He said that more than one thousand old ages cases, 2000 handicapped cases, 3000 widow cases under NFPB Scheme are still pending in the office of TSWO, Bhaderwah. More than eight years have been passed but no funds were released for old age persons of Doda district which is totally injustice with them.
On the occasion, the general secretary of the association thanked the district administration for exempting physically handicapped Government employees from election duty.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of its president Farooq Ahmed.
