JAMMU, Mar 18: MJR-47 Movement for Justice of 1947 PoJK refugees, has issued appeal to the displaced persons from Pak occupied areas to remain vigilant while contesting elections.
In a meeting of the members held at Miran Sahib in R S Pura, the speakers took stock of the current development in view of ensuing parliamentary elections. All the members were highly critical of the political parties who have used the large vote bank of refugees all these years but none has shown any seriousness to mitigate the sufferings of the refugees for the last six decades.
They pointed out that refugees’ problem in the State and its resolutions remained part of election manifesto of all the political parties but the parties totally forgot it, once election were over and Government formed. This time again, all the regional and national level political parties show their full sympathy with the refugees and assured that the problem of refugees will be resolved on priority. Even many contesting candidates claim themselves as refugees just to grab vote bank.
Highly criticizing the political parties and their leaders, the members asked refugees to remain alert while casting their votes so that the large vote bank of refugees once again is not exploited as in the past. Most of the members of the view that MJR-47 should come out with a questionnaire indicating issues, promises made and fulfilled if any so far. The organization asked all the refugees to act as pressure group and show firm commitment for their cause before casting their votes.
