SRINAGAR, Mar 12: Jammu and Kashmir High Court today directed the Crime Branch of Jammu and Kashmir not to delay the arrest of 17 persons who are accused involved in Board of Professional Entrance Examination (BOPEE) scam.
A Division Bench of High Court comprising Justice Hasnain Masoodi and Justice D S Thakur directed the Crime Branch to attach the properties of the accused who are absconding and are avoiding arrest. “The Investigating agency is, accordingly, directed to hone up its machinery, press into service Section 87 and 88 of CrPC and ensure that the accused are arrested without any delay”, reads the court order.
For delay in the execution of arrest warrants the court order says: “There is no reason for the CBK to show a lackadaisical approach in executing warrants against charge-sheeted accused who are avoiding arrest.”
The Crime Branch in its status report to the court says that 14 persons are evading arrest and arrest warrant against the other three is under process of execution.
The court has directed Crime Branch to make a written request to Telecom Cellular Companies for all information that it requires in connection with the investigation of the case irrespective of the period of information.
