POONCH, May 14: Residents of Phagwari village in Panchayat Bedar of tehsil Mandi, are forced to carry electric transformers on their shoulders to restore the electricity supply besides patients and other heavy goods on their backs, as the area has no road connectivity which is the main cause of their sufferings.
Information revealed that an electricity transformer in the area was burnt two days ago and department provided another one to restore the electricity but due to non- availability of road, residents had to carry the transformer on their shoulders through steep hill and brought the defective one down the hill.
Former Sarpanch of Bedar village said that transformer was kept for charging whole night and when used in the morning it was again burnt in an hour. The Electric department was told to repair it again soon. One more transformer was allotted to the area three years back but contractor/ PDD have not executed the work yet. The only one transformer existing in the whole area is over loaded. The main cause of suffering of the residents in this area is non- availability of road, he added.
Pertinent to mention here that Bedar to Phagwari road is under construction since long but not completed as yet and work is stalled due to unknown reasons. The locals of the area urged the concerned authorities to provide them basic facility of road so that they may not suffer more.
