1500 new voters added at 301 camps in Reasi

REASI, Mar 9: District administration today organized various camps at 301 polling booths in which around 1500 new voters were added.
In first of its kind initiative 301 camera equipped observers were deputed to all the polling stations to document the progress of registration process. Wide publicity through Panchayats, Numberdars, Chowkidars besides print and electronic media and radio announcements in Dogri, Gojri and Pahari languages ensured greater participation and inclusion of around 1500 new voters in the list for forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
District Election Officer inspected a series of polling stations in rural areas and 30 Sectoral Officers and 45 Zonal Officers were deployed for ensuring the proper arrangements at each polling booth and registration of new voters.
The BLOs have already started door to door campaign and verification for addition of new voters which was launched on February 25 and will continue till March 20, 2014. The ongoing SVEEP campaign Jashn-e-Jamhuriat has already registered more than 12000 voters in last 6 months.
At all polling stations, the BLOs read out the voter lists which were displayed for verification. The election cell constituted in DC office monitored the entire drive. Tehsildar, BDOs, Naib Tehsildar and other officers also remained stationed in respective areas and encouraged the voters to check their name in the voter list.
In remote areas of Gulabgarh, Bagodass, Mallikote, Angrala, Chassana, Tuksan, Shikari and Tulli Banna people braved the cold wave and harsh topography to check their names in voter list.
SDM monitored the arrangements in Mahore area. Election Cell in DC office also made random calls to more than 1000 voters for checking their names at polling booths.
