IGP flags off Bharat Darshan tour of CD volunteers

JAMMU, Mar 7: Inspector General of Police (IGP), Home Guards, Civil Defence and State Disaster Response Force, T. Punchok today flagged off a group of Civil Defence volunteers for Bharat Darshan tour.
The 10-days tour programme of 33 civil Defence Volunteers and   staff members has been undertaken under Civic Action Programme. The volunteers hailing from all districts of Jammu and Kashmir Provinces would visit Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Ajmer, Udaipur, Jaisalmair, Bikaner, Amritsar and Jammu.
Giving the details, the IGP said that the aim of the programme is to provide opportunities to the volunteers to study broader prospects of Civil Defence, besides interact with their counterparts in other States to have firsthand knowledge about their working. He said that such programmes would help in bringing improvement in the working of SDRF and civil defence. He said that with the changing times, the functioning of the organization needs to be strengthened and the tour is one of the activities being undertaken in this direction.
Mr. Phunchok stressed upon the volunteers to avail the opportunity and get themselves acquainted with the techniques being adopted in these States. He asked them to act as ambassadors of the State and share their experiences with their counterparts during the visit. He lauded the role of Director General of Police, Ashok Prasad for his dedicated efforts and assistance for organizing such activities being under taken by the Organization.
Earlier, the Commandant SDRF, Satenzen Narboo gave a detailed resume of the activities of the Organization for strengthening its performance in the noble service. He also briefed about the 10 day tour programme of the volunteers.
Among others, the function was attended by SSP, TD Saini, Divisional Commandant, Vikas Gupta, SP, RS Manhas, Chief Warden, Jugal Mahajan, DySPs, Ajay Kumar, Tejinder Kour, SK Mehta. Sunil Kumar Kesar, Kewal Krishan, Ashtosh, prominent citizens and other police offices.
