BJP not opposed to Shrines Bill: Dr Jitendra

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Mar 4: BJP today officially sought to dispel the impression that the Party is opposed to Temples and Shrines Bill as has been made out by the reports of Assembly proceedings during the debate on the Bill.
In a statement issued on behalf of the Party its National Executive member and chief spokesperson of the State, Dr Jitendra Singh said that  the Party’s stand on the issue is very clear and it has right from the beginning supported the cause of Hindu shrines and religious places in Valley.
He said the Party has been in favour of passage of the Bill with only certain amendments to make it more widely acceptable. This should not be construed as a stand against the genuine concerns and apprehensions of Kashmiri Pandit community regarding the security and maintenance of religious places in Kashmir, Dr Singh added.
Dr Jitendra Singh appealed all political parties to rise above the party lines because preservation of the Shrines and religious places in Valley is not only a matter of faith of any particular religion but part of grand heritage of Kashmir and it is responsibility of each one us to preserve this heritage.
