JAMMU, Apr 24: The Management Committee of the J&K Red Cross Society, Jammu District Branch has demanded election of all the remaining district branches of J&K strictly as per new rules in a time bound manner so that the UT Branch Managing Committee of IRCS could be formed.
While talking to media persons, here today, the Management Committee members of District Jammu Red Cross Society rued that charge was not given to them even after nine months since their election while on the other hand the incumbent General Secretary of the Society, Rohit Khajuria was taking arbitrary decisions without consulting the stakeholders.
They also alleged that the General Secretary has got his monthly honorarium of Rs 20 thousands changed to salary with monthly increase to 750 percent i. e Rs 1,50,000 retrospectively.
“All decisions, including policy matters are being taken by the General Secretary himself whereas new rules say that Managing Committee of the State/UT as well as of the District Branches has to constitute an Executive Committee, Finance Committee, Junior Red Cross and Youth Red cross Committee, Disaster Mitigation Committee and other committees for appropriate decisions by them,” they said.
Claiming that Rohit Khajuria was appointed as the adhoc General Secretary without consultation/knowledge of the IRCS branch, they demanded that lawfully elected Managing Committee members of the District branch Jammu be handed over the charge without further delay. They also demanded that election of all the remaining district branches of J&K be got conducted strictly as per new rules in a time bound manner so that the UT Branch Managing Committee of IRCS could be formed.

Eight Ambulances, including one Advance Critical, one Basic Critical in Jammu and equal number in Srinagar are lying idle despite five drivers each in Jammu and Srinagar. The new blood bank equipments worth Rs 1.9 crore supplied by the NHQ are lying packed for more than a year now at Srinagar Office,” they said
