Health Deptt Safaikaramcharis suspend fast-unto-death

JAMMU, Feb 27: On the assurance of Director Health Service, the protesting Safaikaramcharis in Health and Family Welfare Department today suspended their fast-unto-death.
The fast-unto-death was being observed under the banner of Medical Employees Federation, Jammu, for regularization of the Safaikaramcharis working in Health and Family Welfare Department and release of pending salary of consolidated employees.
Talking to media persons, president of Medical Employees Federation, Sushil Sudan informed that the protesting employees were visited by the Director Health who personally assured to release the pending salaries of consolidated employees and take up the matter of regularization with the empowered committee.
The employees, who were sitting on fast-unto-death, included Khadam Hussain, Ashok Kumar, A B Gaini, Mohd Kabir, Khar Singh, Kanta, Sharir Ahmad, Zahir Hussain, Mohd Riaz, Mohd Shabir, Mohd Raziq, Mohd Zulfikar, Shahbaz, Tabib Ariff, Abrass Razaq, Abas Shakoor, Shabir Ahmad and Mukhtar Hussain.
“The executive body of Medical Employees Federation fully supports the Safaikaramcharis’ demands, which must be conceded by the Government at earliest,” said Sushil Sudan, who was flanked by general secretary Vinod Kumar and other office bearers of the Federation.
The Medical Employees Federation also threatened to resume the strike if no action is taken on their demands within days.
