JAMMU, Mar 18: Doordarshan Approved Drama Artists Association Jammu has reiterated its long pending demand of Satellite Duggar Channel and sought support of Jammuites for the same.
Members of DADAA today held a protest and raised slogans in support of their demand. They explained the reasons for their demand and appealed Jammu people to raise the issue before all the politicians coming to seek their vote in the Lok Sabha elections.
“The identity of any community is defined by its language, culture and heritage. A community that forgets its language, culture and heritage ceases to exist. Keeping this in mind, in 2013 the Doordarshan Approved Drama Artists Association raised the demand to give Jammu Doordarshan Centre the status of a satellite Duggar channel before the Government so that their language, culture, and heritage could reach every household as Doordarshan is the only medium that can educate and entertain people,” they said.
To achieve this result, DADAA said it has had been meeting MPs, MLA, MLCs and others bringing the demand into their notice, but nothing was done.
“Because of our efforts, Prasar Bharati Director General issued a letter numbered 9/23/2013-PI, dated January 1st 2015 stating that there is a proposal to convert Jammu Doordarshan Centre into a satellite channel which would be operational 24×7 if budget is provided by Information & Broadcasting Ministry/Prasar Bharati, but even after nine years it has not been granted,” said DADAA.
“As you all know Lok Sabha elections have been announced and all politicians will come asking for your vote. We request that you ask every politician what they have done for our satellite Duggar channel?” said the Association.
