SUNDERBANI, Mar 18: Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) has demanded revocation of ban imposed by Government on sale and purchase of State lands allotted to DPs of 1947 from PoJK despite having proprietary rights on the same.
A meeting of JKSAC was held at Radha Krishan Mandir, Sunderbani wherein large number of DPs from various villages across tehsil Sunderbani, Beripatan and Nowshera, besides prominent DP leader namely Col K L Khajuria, Dr Deep Kumar, Master Roshan Lal, Om Parkash Sarpanch, Dr Naresh Kumar, Dev Saroop Contractor and others participated.
While addressing the meeting, the refugee leaders strongly condemned the Government for imposing such a ban on sale and purchase of state land allotted to DPs, who have been granted proprietary rights long back. They also condemned the Jammu MPs for completely ignoring the DP issues and not projecting the same with the Central Govt despite recommendation made by JPC on Home Affairs in its Report number 183, which asks for viable road-map to resolve the DPs’ issue.
The meet observed that DPs have been supporting BJP since 2014 Lok Sabha elections in the hope that the party would project and pursue the DPs issues for their adequate and early redressal. However, it is unfortunate that DPs faith and hopes have not been reciprocated by both the BJP MPs despite of getting many such opportunities during their 10 years tenure, said the speakers and appealed all DPs not to be swayed away by the sentiments and false promises of these people while exercising their franchise in the coming Lok Sabha election.
President of JKSAC, Gurdev Singh also addressed the participants and appealed Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to intervene in the land matter by issuing advisory to Shaleen Kabra, Chairman Revenue Board to convene the meeting of members of the board to take decision as per the spirit of the Government order to save the DPs from further harassment and humiliation.
