JAMMU, Feb 20: A one day largely attended conference of Intellectuals on Indian Economy “Past, Present and Future Scenario” being organized by Chartered Accountants Cell of BJP was held at Press Club, Jammu today. While Jugal Kishore Sharma, State President BJP was the guest of honour, the chief guest at the function was  Meenakshi Lekhi, National spokesperson of the party. She was also the main Speaker on the occasion.
BJP National Executive Member Dr. Jitendra Singh, State Incharge of Cells Sat Sharma (C.A.), CA Cell National Co-convener Sanjay Kapoor and State Convener CA Cell Deepak Kapahi also shared the dais with them.
Addressing the conference, Meenakshi Lekhi dwelled at length on the mismanagement and misdirection of the Indian Economy under the past ten years of Congress led UPA Government’s rule at the Centre. Citing the example of trade with China, she divulged that till year 2004 the trade with China had been hovering around two and a half billion dollars while the same has now ballooned to India suffering a trade deficit of 80 billion dollars with it, by importing such simple items, viz pencil sharpners, rubber erasers, deities plastic idols, plastic footwear etc. and making of which require no technical sophistication and ingenuity.
She further said that most of the advanced and industrialized countries do not allow foreign investment in retail business but the UPA Government has allowed this opening to big Western retail business houses in this trade unmindful of the livelihood of about hundred and twenty million small traders and retailers. The contribution of these one hundred and twenty million traders to the Indian Economy is 45 percent of the total GDP. The UPA Government by its anti-small traders policies is going to push these people to suicides on the pattern of debt ridden small farmers and it is bent upon parcelling out Indian wealth as was done by East India Company hundred years ago.
Meenakshi Lekhi, threw light on the unholy nexus between Aam Aadmi Party and Congress. She pointed out that electorate had totally rejected Congress in the elections but yet it managed to retain the levers of power vicariously by supporting Aam Aadmi Party from outside which had relegated it to insignificant number of eight seats in Vidhan Sabha.
C.A. Sanjay Kapoor said that the real motive of organizing such seminars is to reach the public with facts and figures which clearly prove that the country has been pushed into  economic crisis and the same cannot be allowed to continue. He said that the CA Cell has been compiling the daily data related to economic developments and providing to the intellectual people so that the same is shared at different levels.
Deepak Kapahi presented the details of his Cell and its ongoing activities at different levels with the sole motive of reaching the intellectual section of the society and mobilizes their support for achieving the mission 2014 with an eye on at least 272 seats.
C.A. Anil Sharma presented vote of thanks.
