JAMMU, Feb 17: Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) today held a protest demonstration here at Janipur-High Court Road against the interim budget presented by Union Finance Minister, P Chidambaram, terming it a bundle of lies by the UPA Government.
The protestors burnt the effigies of the Union Finance Minister and UPA Government led by Congress Party.
Addressing the protestors, JWAM president, Sunil Dimple said that Union Finance Minister has tried to mislead the people of the country as the interim budget has nothing in it for the “Aam Adami”. It is anti-poor and has disappointed the people of the country and Jammu and Kashmir State.
Alleging that there is no provision in the Budget to control the rising prices of essential commodities, Dimple demanded the Finance Minister to exempt the VAT and Sale Tax on the sale of the LPG Gas, petrol, diesel, kerosene oil, in the budget.
He appealed the Finance Minister to give a review to the budget, which he maintained in no manner is going to benefit the common man.
