JAMMU, Feb 14: Foiling bovine smuggling attempts, Police today rescued nine animals and arrested four persons in two different cases.
Udhampur Police rescued four bovine animals and arrested one person who was smuggling these animals to Kashmir valley.
Acting on specific information, a Police party from Police Station Kud laid a special naka on the National Highway and intercepted load carrier bearing registration number . JK18-6296. In the vehicle, four bovine animals were being smuggled to Kashmir valley.
Police arrested the smuggler, namely Muzaffar Rashid of Dooru Anantnag and rescued the animals.
A case under Section 188/RPC, 3 PCA was registered in this connection at Police Station Kud.
In other case, a Police party led by SI Vikas Jasrotia intercepted a Tata Mobile bearing registration number JK02AS-5685 during a naka at Baalani Check Post on Katra-Reasi road. During searches, five bovine animals were found loaded in the vehicle. Police rescued the animals and arrested the smuggler, identified as Latif Shah of Jakhani and Bhuttu of Bardi nallah, Udhampur.
Police also seized the vehicle and registered a case in this connection.
