JAMMU, Feb 7: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti has demanded that Congress Minister allegedly involved in making advances towards a lady doctor working at senior position in Kashmir be sacked and arrested without any delay.
Addressing a press conference here today the PDP leader said that Omar led Government unfortunately tried to protect the Minister and the Police did not entertain an FIR for over a week despite the fact that woman officer continued to visit there with the complaint. The Government wanted to give enough time to the accused Minister for getting a bail from the court and evade his arrest.
It is very unfortunate that the Police registered an FIR only after the court intervened into the matter. She said that even the court denied bail to the accused Minister.  Ms Mehbooba said if a person like Tarun Tejpal was arrested by police within no time, what was the problem with the police in arresting Congress Minister after he was allegedly involved in making advances towards a lady Medical Officer heading a block in Kashmir. What will be the security of common woman if an officer is not safe in the Health Department?
She said Medical is considered as most noble profession and most favoured by the fair sex. And if the people sitting at the top of the department will behave in this manner the women will feel most insecure in the department. She said Chief Minister Omar Abdullah owes an answer to the fair sex and the people as a whole. He is heading the Police Department and the people of his department denied registration of an FIR.
Ms Mehbooba said that Chief Minister is himself in the dock over Haji Yousuf case and his father  too, in the JKCA scam worth Rs 50 crore, moreover, some of his Ministers were involved in Drug and BOPEE scam, under such circumstances he has lost moral responsibility to act against any Minister. She said this Government has proved as most tainted and worst ever seen in the history. He has lost moral responsibility to rule the State. The Minister be arrested and punished like an ordinary citizen, she maintained.
