JAMMU, Jan 31: Voluntarily retired workers of J&K State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC),   held protest demonstration against the Transport authorities and SRTC management for not releasing their pending dues.
A large number of VRS accorded SRTC workers assembled near Press Club here today  under the banner of All J&K SRTC Volunteer Retired Employees Association headed by Dev Raj Bali and held protest demonstration. They were shouting slogans in support of their demands.
Mr Bali while speaking on the occasion alleged that nearly 700 VRS given SRTC employees are struggling for the last over three years but Government is not releasing their pending dues. Many protests and rallies were taken out but the Government has turned deaf and dumb. He demanded that their pending 126 slab of COLA due from January Ist 2006 along with leave salary be released. He also demanded that 6th Pay Commission be implemented in respect to these VRS accorded workers. Their gratuity and ex-gratia grant is also pending. All these demands be addressed without any further delay, he demanded.
As the protesting VRS given employees started protest march towards Secretariat, strong contingent of police stopped them at Dogra Chowk and did not allow to move ahead. The protesters showed some resistance but they were made to disperse by the cops.
