UDHAMPUR, Jan 17: Police today foiled a major attempt of bovine smuggling and rescued 48 bovine animals besides arresting four smugglers in separate cases.
These smuggling bid were foiled under the jurisdiction of Police Station Udhampur, Chenani, Kud, and Rehambal.
Reports said that based on reliable information, a Police Party from Police Station Udhampur laid a naka near Jakhani on the National Highway and intercepted a truck bearing Registration number JK02U-4435, which was on his way towards Srinagar. During the thorough search, the vehicle was found loaded with 11 bovine animals.
Police rescued the bovine animals and seized the truck besides arresting the smuggler, identified as Mohd Latif of Chak Rakhwala, Udhampur.
Similarly, Chenani Police intercepted one truck bearing registration number JK19-2085 and rescued 15 bovine animals. However, the smuggler managed to flee.
Police party from Police Station Kud rescued 9 bovine animals from a truck bearing registration number .JK13A-3065 while 13 bovine animals were rescued from a truck bearing registration number JK02AT-8215 which was intercepted by a Police party from Rehambal Police Station.
