PWS shows concern over power crisis, scarcity of ration

SRINAGAR, Jan 13: People’s Welfare Society, District Ganderbal has expressed grave concern over the power crisis being faced by the people in the area during this chilly Winter.
The Society which met today under the chairmanship of its chief patron and district coordinator People’s Conference (PC) Mir Ghulam Rasool Butwani demanded improvement in power system in the Valley. It also expressed grave concern over scarcity of ration at Government ration depots and alleged that out of 30 days in a month ration ghats remain open for two to three days only and when the consumers ask for ration they are being told that their quota has ended.
Terming it a big scam Mir demanded a probe into the matter. He alleged that ration cards for the year 2013 were not distributed among the consumers till now with the result they have to purchase the ration in black.
He said the prices of essential commodities including vegetables have touched sky which has been a cause of concern for the masses.
Later a delegation led by Mr Mir called on DFO Ganderbal and demanded distribution of timber among the people. The delegation expressed concern over shortage of timber in the district and urged the DFO to take steps in meeting the demand.
