Hilly areas witnessing unprecedented development: Shabir

RAJOURI, Jan 10: Minister of State for Health, Shabir Ahmad Khan today inspected pace of progress on several ongoing developmental projects in Rajouri and directed the executing agencies for time bound completion of the projects to percolate the benefits of these to the people well in time.
Mr. Khan also inspected the under construction Biatul Zireen complex being constructed for providing additional accommodation to the pilgrims at Shadara Sharief.
The construction of Biatul-Zireen is the part of Rs 5 crore project sanctioned by the Centre under STF for upgradation of tourist related infrastructure in the area. Under this project the lightning of Shadara Sharief road and construction of link road to Ziarat Sharief have been already completed.
The Minister was apprised that work on Biatul Zireen complex is apace at a cost of Rs 1.80 crore against which Rs 1.14 crore have been expended on it and would be completed well in time.
The Minister also inspected pace of progress on under construction Muglian Mood-Azmatabad and Manyal- Dara roads being taken up at the total cost of Rs 6.39 crore.
The Minister was apprised by the concerned officers that till now Rs 1.35 crore have been expended on these roads on earth filling work   while   the rest of the work would be completed in stipulated time frame.
Meanwhile, while interacting with the people, the Minister said that construction work on Upper Azmatabad road would be taken up soon after transfer of the land from Auqauf.
The Minister also addressed a public meeting at Azmatabad and said that varied tourism potential of Rajouri and Poonch districts is being explored fully by developing scenic spots and upgradation of tourist related infrastructure. He said ecofriendly tourism infrastructure at a cost of Rs. 9.20 crore is being constructed at Dera-Ki-Gali. He said upgradation of TRC Shadara Sharief, besides creation of way side facilities along Mughal road have been taken up involving  crores of rupees.
The Minister said that all-round development of hilly and border areas have received focused attention of the Government during last 5 years. He said at present almost all the remote and hilly areas have basic facilities of education, health care, drinking water, road connectivity and power supply at their door steps.
