RAJOURI, Jan 10: People from Rajouri town held protest demonstrations against PDD authorities at Tehsil office complex and Abdullah bridge and disrupted movement of traffic for some time here today.
A large number of people from different localities of the town assembled at Abdullah bridge at around 2 pm and started protest demonstration. They raised barricades on the road and disrupted movement of traffic for over one and half hour. The agitated public was shouting slogans against Chief Engineer PDD, MoS Power and even the Chief Minister for power crisis in the area.
They alleged that there are long unscheduled power cuts in the city and electricity is made available hardly for eight to ten hours. The public was suffering badly and the students are badly hit. Later, Tehsildar and SHO Rajouri reached the spot and after their intervention the road was opened and traffic restored.
Another protest demonstration was held at Tehsil complex, Rajouri today. The local BJYM activists were leading the protest. They also shouted slogans against the PDD authorities and demanded that power supply be improved. They also submitted a memorandum to the local Administration.
