JAMMU, Oct 10: One hundred twenty-two more cases of dengue were reported today from various parts of Jammu and Kashmir, taking the total number of cases so far this year to 2887.
A Health official said that 68 cases were reported today from Jammu district alone while 34 cases were reported from Udhampur, 11 from Kathua, 3 from Samba, 1 from Ramban and 2 from other parts of the country. The positive patients include 102 adults and 20 children, he added.
He said maximum 2011 cases reported so far are from Jammu district followed by Udhampur district with 262 cases, Kathua with 221 cases and Samba with 197 cases each. “There were 59 cases in Rajouri, 29 in Ramban, 24 in Reasi, 20 in Doda, 16 in Poonch, 3 in Kishtwar, 15 in Kashmir and 26 from other parts of the country,” the official said.
The official further informed that a total of 967 dengue patients have been admitted to the hospitals till date and of these, 856 have been discharged and 82 patients are still under treatment.
“The dengue cases are rising with each day,” the official said, and advised that citizens should ensure no stagnation of water in and around their houses as mosquitoes responsible for dengue breed in stagnant water.
