RAJOURI, Jan 7: Residents of Jawahar Nagar area of the town held protest demonstration against PDD and blocked Rajouri-Kalakote road for over one and half hour here this evening.
The residents were raising slogans against Chief Engineer PDD (M&RE) and Executive Engineer Rajouri for failure of the department to provide adequate supply of electricity. They alleged that transformer installed in the area went out of order about a week back and many areas of Ward No. 4 and 5 were without electricity. The movement of traffic on this road was disrupted from 5.30 pm to 7 pm.
Later, SHO Rajouri Varinder Gupta reached the spot and assured the public to take up the issue with PDD authorities. He claimed that power will be restored by mid day tomorrow. The agitating people then lifted dharna.
