JAMMU, Jan 5: With an aim to unite people of the State and to launch movement against corruption and other issues including political developments, a newly floated Jammu and Kashmir People’s Initiative for Change (JKPIC)-an amalgam of social activists today organized a seminar on the topic ‘People’s Agenda: Jammu and Kashmir vis-à-vis AAP Model here.
The Seminar was organized in two sessions, which elaborately discussed the latest issues pertaining to overall political scenario in the State besides bringing ‘Aam Aadmi’ at the same platform and unite them to fight against the issues like corruption, mis-governance, development and impact of AAP model in Jammu and Kashmir in the near future.
Members of the civil society including academicians, lawyers, teachers, students, traders, journalists, participated in the seminar with unanimous view that AAP Model is the need of the hour in the State of Jammu and Kashmir and can be implemented in toto.
In the first session, Prof Deepsheekha Kotwal, Sheikh Shakeel, a senior advocate of Jammu and Kashmir High Court, Dr Sandeep Sandy, a research scholar and Dinesh Manohtra, a senior journalist deliberated on the issue of governance in the State.
The discussants also substantiated and added the issues, crucial for people of J&K followed by the open house discussion where local and general issues were highlighted by the audience.
Meanwhile, in the second session-discussion on whether ‘AAP model relevant in J&K’ chaired by B L Saraf (retd Judge) Prof Dr Kuldeep Charak invited various queries.
The speakers however, elaborated on the inherent defects in the present political system and VIP culture prevailing in the State and country as a whole.
“Corruption, nepotism, dynastic rule has deprived the ‘Aam Aadmi’ of its rights and is eating into the very vitals of the society,” observed the speakers.
