JAMMU, Dec 31: Kashmir Hindu Conference (KHC) has expressed grave concern over the attempts being made by some vested interests to erode the secular traditions of the State and substitute the same by fundamental traditions.
In its meeting here today, held under the chairmanship of its president advocate, M L Thusoo, KHC took serious exception to the recent statement of Mushtaq Ahmed the chairperson of J&K Bank that there was scope of Islamic banking in J&K Bank.
The meeting said that the statement is not in the tune with the secular traditions of the State and country of which J&K is an integral part. It said the banking of any particular faith is against the basics and fundamentals of the Constitution of the country. The meeting termed it a calculated move of Islamisation of the State.
P L Koul Badgami, convener KHC, K L Ganju, A K Koul, M L Daftri, M L Koul, G L Koul and others were present in the meeting.
