Several schemes launched to transform socio-economic condition of people: Aijaz

REASI, Dec 30: To redress the problems of people, the Minister for Revenue, Relief & Rehabilitation, Aijaz Ahmad Khan today convened a public meeting at Salal, Reasi.
Deputy Commissioner, Reasi, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, and other officers of various departments were also present.
Addressing the public meeting Aijaz said that the Government is making serious efforts to eradicate poverty, adding that several schemes have been launched to transform the socio-economic condition of the people especially those living in far flung areas of the state.
Aijaz said that various development programmes and employment schemes like MGNREGA and  Sher-i- Kashmir Employment Welfare Programme have resulted in development and changed many lives. He stressed upon the general public to come forward and took active part in such development programmes and get benefited. He also assured the people that their genuine demands will be addressed.
The Minister exhorted upon the people in general and women folk in particular to come forward and form Self Help Groups (SHG) at the grass root level with the help of Rural Development agencies and specialized departments such as agriculture, animal husbandry, poultry farming, horticulture, sheep husbandry etc. for  their economic upliftment. He also asked the officers of different department to conduct frequent visits to these areas and educate the general masses about the different schemes pertaining to their respective departments for the welfare of the people.
Minister also assured the people that the newly discovered Shri Shiv Pragay Salal Cave will be brought on tourist map and tourist circuits will be created in Salal and Gool. On this occasion Minister also announced installation of two transformers with HT/LT network at Salal.
The Minister also inspected various on-going developmental schemes and reviewed the functioning of different departments during his extensive tour of the area.
