Int’l Youth Day celebrated with enthusiasm across J&K

JAMMU, Aug 12: International Youth Day on the theme “Green Skills for Youth: Towards a sustainable world” was celebrated today with great enthusiasm in various colleges and other educational institutions across Jammu and Kashmir.
The Day was celebrated in Government Degree College (GDC) Sidhra by Red Ribbon Club in collaboration with NSS unit of the College. A series of activities including poster making competition, speech competition, etc were organized in which students from different semesters of the College participated. The program was conducted under the patronship of Dr BB Anand (Principal GDC Sidhra).
Red Ribbon Club of GDC RS Pura in collaboration with J&K AIDS Control Society organized a poster making event in celebration of International Youth Day. The event, held at the GDC campus, centered around the theme “Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World”. The event was organized under the patronage of Principal Prof Rajni Bhagat.
To celebrate the Day, poster making and slogan writing competitions was conducted in GDC Akhnoor by Red Ribbon Club (RRC) of the College. About 30 students from Semester-III and V participated in the event which was organized under the supervision of Prof (Dr) Romilla Malla Bhat, Principal of the College.
GDC Vijaypur in collaboration with J&K AIDS Control Society organized a wall-painting competition and symposium on the theme “Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World” to commemorate International Youth Day. More than 50 students of the College actively participated in the events organized under the guidance of Principal of the College, Dr Vandana Gupta.
Red Ribbon Club of GDC Marh in collaboration with J&K AIDS Control Society organized a poster making and wall painting competition to mark International Youth Day. The programme was presided over by the Principal of the College, Dr Rakesh Kumar Koul. About 15 students of the college participated in the two activities.
The International Youth Day was observed by Red Ribbon Club of GDC Darhal with the active cooperation of the NSS unit of the College. A slogan writing competition and a seminar on the theme “Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World” were held on the occasion. The event held under the guidance of Prof MH Shah, Principal of the College.
Red Ribbon Club of GDC Marheen celebrated International Youth Day by organizing poster making and slogan writing competitions and paper presentations on the theme Role of Youth and Sustainable Development in which more than 30 students actively participated. The programme was organized under the patronage of Principal Prof (Dr) Anupama Gupta.
GDC Nowshera organized a seminar to mark the event. The program started with introductory speech by Prof Pooja Devi, Nodal Officer, Red Ribbon Club. Around 90 students and the staff members attended the programme in smart classroom and took the pledge to adopt and promote green skills for a sustainable tomorrow. The Event was organized under the supervision of Dr KK Sharma, Principal of the College.
Red Ribbon Club of GDC Jindrah organized a poster making competition to commemorate the Day under the guidance of Prof Renu Sehgal, Principal of the College. Students of the College participated enthusiastically and painted colourful posters conveyed meaningful messages and ideas. The whole activity was organized by Red Ribbon Club of the College.
International Youth Day was celebrated in the premises of GDC Dudu Basantgarh. The Theme for the Day was role of youth in curbing the menace of drug abuse. Five students participated in the symposium and presented their valuable suggestions in curbing the evil of drug abuse. Prof Anirudh Sharma in his address motivated students to channelize their energies in right way and contribute for growth and development of the country.
A day-long programme to celebrate International Youth Day was organized at Government PG College Rajouri under the guidance of the Principal of the College Dr Shamim Ahmed Azad. A number of students participated in speech and poster making competitions organized on the occasion.
GDC Neeli Nallah, Udhampur in collaboration with J&K Aids Control Society celebrated the Day by organizing an activity on the theme “Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World”. The programme was organized under the guidance of worthy Principal Prof Hans Raj. A total of 10 students displayed their projects which were made with the help of solid waste material.
A declamation contest on the topic “Role of Youth to Achieve Sustainable Development” was organized at GDC Mahanpur under the guidance of Principal Dr Sangeeta Sudan. Twelve Students participated in the contest. Prof Arvind Kumar (convener, Red Ribbon Club) and Dr Balbinder Singh (Physical Director) delivered lectures on the occasion.
To mark the occasion, Indian Army organized a ‘Youth Career Counseling’ event at Jathi High School, Assar. Attended by a total of 10 teachers and 47 students, including 22 young women, the event facilitated a platform for these students to gain a deeper understanding of the avenues they could pursue within the armed forces, such as joining as soldiers, commissioning as officers, or pursuing civil roles.
