JAMMU, Dec 12: Under Information Technology Act, the Crime Branch Jammu has registered a case against unidentified criminals who hoisted a fake website of the Forest Department and pasted a bogus appointment order to cheat the public at large.
The case was registered on complaints by Additional Principal Chief Conservator Forest (Central) and Under Secretary Forest Department, who informed that some criminal elements had hoisted a fake website having URL www.jkforest.co.in on the web after copying all the contents of the official website www.jkforest.com of the Forest Department infringing the Copyright Act.
A fake appointment order under the link `Recruitment-2013′ was also pasted on the fake site thereby cheating the public at large through fraudulent means.
In this connection, the Crime Branch has registered a case FIR number 42/2013 under Section 420, 466, 468, 471 RPC read with Section 66, 73 and 74 of the Information Technology Act and investigation is on.
