BJP delegation calls on LG

SRINAGAR, June 16: A delegation of the Jammu and Kashmir unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leadership met with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to discuss several issues of public importance.
The delegation consisted of party General Secretary Vivodh Gupta, former President and ex-Minister Sat Sharma, former Ministers Sham Lal Sharma and Surjeet Singh Slathia, Chief Spokesperson Sunil Sethi, Spokesperson Abhinav Sharma, and President of the Youth Wing of the party, Arun Prabhat.
The delegation raised concerns regarding the conduct of the CUET (Common University Entrance Test) exams outside the Union Territory and the challenges faced by students in gaining admission to colleges in Jammu and Kashmir. They emphasized the need for a resolution to these issues.
Another issue discussed was the timely payment of pensions for the elderly, disabled, and widows. The delegation urged the administration to expedite the pension issuance process for eligible beneficiaries without any doubts about their eligibility.
The BJP leaders also highlighted the difficulties faced by beneficiaries of ration cards and the pending cases related to ration distribution. They pressed for a resolution to these cases. Additionally, they requested the regularisation of possession of small pockets of state and beneficiary lands to settle cases related to PMAY (Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana) beneficiaries.
The delegation also demanded the formulation of a policy for the employment of unemployed youth, as the current selection process was causing distress and frustration among them. They also discussed the issues faced by daily-rated and contractual employees.
Furthermore, the delegation called for the clearance of pending cases regarding compassionate appointments, as well as addressed the issue of power curtailment during peak summer hours.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha attentively listened to the concerns raised by the visiting BJP leaders and assured them that all the issues would be prioritized and addressed by the administration.
