Durga Nagar residents demand repair of damaged water pumping facilities

JAMMU, June 7: Residents of Durga Nagar Area here have demanded that the worn-out water pumping facilities in their locality are repaired at the earliest.
During a meeting of the Durga Nagar Welfare Committee Sector-1, 2, and 3, and adjoining areas held under the chairmanship of Roshan Lal Raina (Sector 1 and 3) and Sanjay Ganjoo (Sector 2), the residents of these areas claimed that they have been facing acute shortage of the water round-the-year particularly in hot summer months due to Jal Shakti Department’s apathy to repair the dysfunctional motor of a tube well in Sector-1 and damaged pump in Muthi Pumping Station.
“Since pipes in our area run dry during summer months, most people in Durga Nagar and adjoining localities have to purchase the water from private tankers to quench their thrust,” said a committee member.
The meeting of the Durga Nagar Welfare Committee demanded intervention of LG Manoj Sinha restoration of the damaged water pumping facilities at the earliest.
The meeting also demanded that PDD adopts previous system of paying electricity bills through smart meters and doesn’t implement the prepaid system of paying the bills.
The meeting was attended by Bihari Lal Raina, General Secretary of Durga Nagar Welfare Committee; CL Zutshi, Badri Nath, Bansi Lal Pandita, Bushan Lal Koul, Bharat Bushan Gosani, RL Koul, Ramesh Pandit, Jawahir Lal Raina, Satish Ji Kissu, Mahraj Krishan Raina, Durga Nath Koul, Ravinder Bhan, Sunil Raina, and AK Koul.
