Police to appeal against stay to SHO’s transfer

JAMMU, Nov 25: Police has decided to appeal against the stay order given by the Single Bench of the High Court to former SHO Satwari Inspector Ghulam Hassan Kamaal on his transfer to the District Police Lines (DPL).
Police sources said the legal experts of the department were giving final touches to appeal against the stay order, which would be filed before the High Court in the next few days.
Police have decided to appeal on the ground that Police Headquarters had given a written direction to the police officers that Inspector Kamaal shouldn’t be given independent or significant post in view of past record.
Sources said Inspector Kamaal had been caught red handed by the State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) in a trap case in which he has been chargesheeted and trial of the case was on. They added that a murder case was also registered against them though he had been acquitted of the charges. There had also been the High Court directions that the tainted officers shouldn’t be given important posts.
“Keeping in view the written direction of the Police Headquarters, the authorities had decided against giving any important or independent post to Inspector Kamaal,” sources said, adding that police authorities have decided to contest the stay granted to the former SHO on his transfer.
“We will soon be filing a detailed petition before the Court against the stay order,” the sources said.
