JAMMU, Apr 10: Stressing upon the need to lay primary focus on promoting religious tourism in Jammu region, followed by proper projection and development of other tourist spots in the region here, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Tourism Cell Convenor for J&K, Ravi Bakshi led by his team today discussed in detail several tourism development related issues with the Director Tourism, Jammu, Vivekanand Rai here today.
Accompanied by Tourism Cell Co-Convenors Parvesh Bali and Sanjeev Gupta besides others, Bakshi said that Jammu and Kashmir being most famous for religious tourism has vast potential to attract these tourists to its other tourist spots of scenic beauty. He said there should be prime focus to attract and divert religious tourists to the other tourist places for raising economic condition of the people.
He stressed the need to further develop Purmandal-Uttervahni, Man Talai, Sud-Mahadev shrines, open Pancheri Tourist facility for public without any delay, develop Sankri Devta shrine in Pancheri, Sukrala Mata, Bala Sundri shrines, Khoon Temple, ancient Ramnagar temples & Sheesh Mehal, Krimachi temples, Jasrota Mata temple in Kathua, Bhimgarh Fort in Samba, Hiranagar Fort & Kali Mata Temple, raising facilities at Bahu Fort Temple taking it under Shrine Board control, develop Akhnoor Fort and ancient cave shrine of Lord Shiva at the bank of river Chenab whose mention is in Mahabharata’s Virat Nagri.
Bakshi said Modi Govt is giving top priority to promote religious tourism in the country and providing massive funds for this. The Directorate of Tourism Jammu should also work on these projects. He said water falls at Dudu and Latti have great potential. These places have remained neglected. There is need to develop most beautiful tourist spots like Dudu, Latti, Manju Top, Basantgarh, Gandh Top, Pancheri, Doda, Poonch, Rajouri, Bani-Sarthal, Taggar, Machhedi etc.
While giving a patient hearing to the delegation, Director Tourism Rai assured all possible support for promoting tourism in Jammu Province. He asked the delegation to update the department regarding various issues of public interest and hoped that with active participation of political and social activists’ tourism in Jammu province will achieve greater heights.
Ravi Bakshi raised various issues regarding proper maintenance of tourist facilities at different location especially in the wake of Shree Amaranth Yatra 2023. He also assured full support of his district teams in organizing various tourism initiatives in different districts, especially with regard to Cluster Tourist villages involving locals, for raising their economic condition.
