SAMBA, Feb 23 : Samba police, under the guidance of Senior Superintendent of Police Benam Tosh, have intensified drive against narcotic suppliers and arrested one more heroin peddler and recovered 10 grams of heroin (‘Chitta’) worth rupees 50000 from his possession.
The arrested heroin peddler has been identified as Sachin Kumar, son of Sham Lal of Rakh Dhok, tehsil Jourian district Jammu of Beli Charana Poonch Basti Migrant Camp, Jammu. A case FIR No. 38/2023 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station (PS), Bari-Brahmana and investigation started.
Accused Sachin had been indulging in heroin peddling for the last five years and was active in the areas of Samba district as well. He used to collect consignment from the Interstate smugglers of heroin and used to supply the same to the individual addicts.
A police party comprising of SDPO, Bari-Brahmana Rahul Nagar and SHO Bari-Brahmana Sunil Sharma under the supervision of Additional SP Samba Surinder Choudhary while performing patrolling duty near Shalimar Carpet Industries, in the industrial area Bari Brahmana intercepted one person who was roaming in the late evening under suspicious circumstances in an auto bearing Registration Number JK02CN-2580.
During his personal search conducted in the presence of Executive Magistrate First Class, heroin was recovered from his possession. He was immediately arrested and the three-wheeler has also been seized by police.
Samba police said that in a short span of one and half month total nine notorious suppliers of heroin, including three female Interstate heroin smugglers, have been arrested in the district and special nakas, traps and raids are regularly being conducted to nab other elements involved in narcotic trafficking & drugs supplying.
