PSC seeks State proposal for 3000 more quarters in Valley

SRINAGAR, Nov 5: Parliamentary Sub- Committee which reached here today for three days visit of the State to have on spot study of the problems of displaced people urged the State Government to furnish a separate plan for construction of 3000 more quarters in Valley for allotment of individual sets to newly appointed migrant employees under PM’s package.
Responding to the demand of the migrant employees at the transit camp Vessu in South Kashmir district of Kulgam during the visit of the Committee this afternoon, the Additional Secretary in Union Home Ministry, K Skandan, who also accompanied the delegation urged the State Government to submit a detailed proposal to Union Government in this regard as early as possible.
The Sub-Committee is headed by BJP national spokesperson and MP Rajiv Partap Rudy and its other members included Congress MP Navin Jindal, Vandan Chavan, Sanius Kujar, Satish Chander Misra, Dr Shafiq Rehman Barq, Dr Kakoli Ghoosh Dastidar, Raman Deka, Detta Maghe, Sanjay Dina Patil, Rathod Ramesh and Neertay Shekhar.
The Sub-Committee during its visit to Vessu camp interacted with Migrant employees putting up there and took stock of their problems.
The Kashmiri Migrant Employees Forum submitted a memorandum to the delegation which besides construction of more quarters to overcome the accommodation problem, demanded that the migrant employees job be made pensionable as the package was announced much earlier than 2010 when State Government decided to abolish the pension system for its employees.
It further demanded complete return and rehabilitation of migrants, inter-district transfers of the migrant employees by framing a proper transfer policy for them and political empowerment for the community.
During their visit to Vessu transit camp the Sub-Committee was accompanied by Revenue Secretary Vinod Kaul, Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Jehangir Mir, Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner, R K Pandita, Additional DC, Kulgam Bashir Ahmed Khan, SSP Kulgam and other civil and police officers.
Earlier the BJP leaders from State including Sofi Yousf, Tasaduq Hussain, Malik Mohammed Yousf Ashaq Hussian Dar and others met the Sub-Committee.
The Committee will reach Jammu tomorrow and it will visit the migrant camps at Purkhoo and Buta Nagar.
The team will meet the various delegations of displaced Pandits, West Pak refugees, PoK refugees and Jammu migrants on November 7 before their return to New Delhi.
The Parliamentary Standing Committee headed by BJP senior leader and MP K Venkaiah Naidu will prepare a detailed report on the feed back given by the Sub-Committee on the problems of West Pak refugees, PoK refugees, displaced people from Valley and other migrants from Jammu region and submit the same to Parliament by February next year with its recommendations.
