Admn takes over Jhiri shrine

JAMMU, Nov 4: Authorities today took over the affairs of Jhiri shrine. A Committee headed by Deputy Commissioner, Jammu A K Sahu and comprising some members would manage affairs of the shrine till the Government constitutes a Shrine Board for the shrine.
A team of the district administration comprising Additional DC Jammu Kalyan Singh, Assistant Commissioner (General) Shehnaz Choudhary and Additional SP Jammu M L Kaith today visited Jhiri shrine complex and prepared an inventory of all goods, cash and jewellery.
Authorities installed their donation boxes in the shrine area, where a grand fair is being held from November 16 to 24. The fair is held every year.
The Committee headed by Mr Sahu to manage affairs of the shrine would have Additional SP Jammu M L Kaith, AC (G) Shehnaz Choudhary, Deputy Director Tourism Department and BDO Marh among others as its members
Lakhs of devotees throng Jhiri fair every year to pay obeisance to widely revered Bawa Jitto. The week long fair attracts devotees from various parts of North India.
Official sources said the Committee would manage fair of Jhiri Shrine till the Government formally sets up the Shrine Board.
