SRINAGAR, Jan 3: A 30-year-old man died and another was taken to the hospital after the duo slipped and fell into a narrow gorge in the Tumnard forest region of Batpora Haihama in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district today.
Officials said that two people, Jaffar Ahmad Khan, son of Liyaqat Ali Khan, and Mushtaq Ahmad Mir, son of Abdul Aziz Mir, had gone to the forest area to gather firewood when they slipped and fell down a deep gorge. The duo was sent to SDH Kupwara after receiving significant injuries, where one, Mushtaq Ahmad, was pronounced dead upon arrival. “After receiving first aid, the other injured person was sent to a hospital in Srinagar for special attention,” they said.
Meanwhile, the police have taken notice of the occurrence and have launched investigations to gather information.
