KISHTWAR, Dec 16: Even after the 75 years of independence two secluded hamlets of Dhara and Trehara in Kishtwar district san road connectivity as successive governments failed to pay attention to the area.
According to residents of the area, the two hamlets comprising of 70 households have been running from pillar to post since 1990 for road connectivity but to no avail. They said that the successive governments failed to construct the three kilometer link road in the area to connect these hamlets to district Kishtwar and rest of the Jammu region.
The Chairman Block Development Council, Thakraie Kishori Lal Shan in his letter yesterday to Additional District Development Commissioner Kishtwar has referred to the demand of the inhabitants of the two hamlets that the construction of link road under NABARD may be kept in plan provisions to ensure that the road is constructed for overall development of these habitations.
In his letter the BDC chairman said that without the road connectivity the residents of these two hamlets have to face many odds which could be eased out by virtue of construction of link road.
The BDC chairman urged the ADC that the matter may be taken up with the higher authorities for approval at an earliest.
The letter further mentioned that proposed link road known to be the lifeline for the residents of the two hamlets viz Dhara and Trehara which have been deprived of road connectivity while construction of the Shivnagar to Sranwan road way back in 1990s.
The Additional District Development Commissioner, Kishtwar, Sham Lal in his letter to District Panchayat Officer (DPO), Kishtwar, earlier while giving reference to the resolution passed by the residents of two hamlets, has also sought his report in the matter.
In his letter ADC, Kishtwar asked the DPO to go through the contents of the resolution and submit a report to his office whether the work has been projected by the visiting officers during the Phase I,II, III and IV or not.
The residents meanwhile have made a fervent appeal to authorities to take up the construction of road in hand at the earliest to ease the people’s problems.
