Srinagar, Nov 5: The Undergraduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC) is all set to develop a national repository of the best teaching faculties for which it has asked all the medical colleges to submit the details in this regard.
Officials said that it has been emphasized to provide wider exposure and coverage to quality education in the field of medicine, and in this regard, the UGMEB has decided to develop a national repository of the best teaching faculties in medical colleges in the country.
As per details, the revised Competency Based Undergraduate Curriculum for MBBS students has been prepared by UGMEB to provide a sound base and balanced approach among medical students with the introduction of the foundation course, such as Family Adoption Programme, Yoga, meditation, Local Language adaptation and skills.
“For clinical exposure, AETCOM module, Problem-based learning, domain-wise education and exposure developing interest in basic research are designed to bring a positive impact and enhancement in job opportunities to young medical graduates/practitioners,” the officials said.
The officials said that the Undergraduate Medical Education Board is entrusted with the responsibility to maintain the standards of medical education at the undergraduate level.
Accordingly, the officials said, the academic calendar applicable to the MBBS batch scheduled in November 2022 is finalised and uploaded on NMC’s website with the approval of the Chairman, NMC. “It has been implied that this academic calendar gives unconditional freedom to the concerned universities and medical colleges to plan the academic sessions.”
After the details regarding the best teaching faculties are submitted, those selected as the best will be invited by the Commission to impart lectures for students from all colleges of the country and the same shall be telecast by National Medical Commission while the selected faculties shall also be awarded appropriately.
In this regard, the UGMEB has sought details from all the medical colleges/institutes which have been established before the year 2001 and with a continuous track record of uninterrupted batches to date, for selection of subject-wise best teaching faculty in the country.
In this regard, the NMC has directed that the class representative from amongst the students may also send the same information in the form of feedback separately. It has been noted that the video recording should not be sent by students, however, it said, they must mention the reason for selecting the teacher as the best teacher.
In this regard, GMC, Srinagar has set in motion the process of collecting the feedback from the Class representatives of UG Batch-2018 to Batch-2021 who have been directed to submit the information of the selected best teaching faculties by November 10.
