JAMMU, Sept 9: Bahu Fort Police arrested a thief within 24 hours and recovered 25 tolas stolen gold ornaments and Rs 2.40 lakh cash.
As per police sources, a complaint was lodged by Police Station Bahu Fort by a lady namely Isha Gupta, wife of Ritender Gupta of Marwal Enclave Trikuta Nagar stating therein that gold around 25 tolas and cash Rs 2.40 lakh were stolen from her house.
Acting over the complaint, a case FIR Number 233/2022 under section 380 IPC was got registered at Police Station Bahu Fort and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, a team from Police Station Bahu Fort led by SHO Inspector Nayat Ali under the supervision of SDPO East Syed Zaheer Abbas Jafari was constituted.
The team did strenuous efforts and with the help of CCTV cameras footages of the area finally rounded up a suspect namely Kiran, daughter of Lakshmi Parashad Yadav of Chattisgarh, at present Marwal District Jammu.
During sustained questioning, the suspect confessed her involvement in the theft case and was arrested accordingly.
On her disclosure, stolen gold items and cash were recovered.
Further investigation into the case is going on.
