UDHAMPUR, Aug 8: Police today rescued 81 bovines from the clutches of smugglers while foiling six smuggling bids in Udhampur, Chenani and Tikri .
Reports said that Police party of PS Udhampur, headed by SHO Insp Chaman Gorkha under the supervision of SSP Udhampur Dr Vinod Kumar established a naka at Jakhani NHW and foiled three bovine smuggling attempts. 48 bovines were rescued from the possession of two smugglers namely Farooq Ahmed son of Rehmat Ali of Rakh Barotian Samba and Mohd Ashraf son of Gh Qadir of Samba.
Both the smugglers were arrested on the spot whereas their two accomplices managed to escape taking advantage of darkness.
Another attempt of bovine smuggling was foiled by Police party of PS Chenani, led by SHO Om Parkash SHO PS Chenani under the supervision of SDPO Chenani Ahmed Shaafi. Two trucks, bearing registration number JK02AR- 8759 and JK03E- 2502 were intercepted and during search, 29 bovines were found loaded in these vehicles.
Drivers of both the vehicles managed to escape while Police rescued all the bovines, which were being taken to Kashmir without valid permission.
Foiling another attempt, Police Party of PP Tikri led by SHO PS Rehambal, Insp Rajesh Sharma and assisted by IC PP Tikri PSI Abdul Satar intercepted one Mahindra Bolero JK02CG- 7516 and rescued four bovines.
Driver of vehicle, identified as Prince Sharma son of Naresh Kumar of Salehar Jammu was arrested by Police.
