JAMMU, July 24: Hindi Sahitya Mandal (HSM), Jammu released a Hindi satire book titled ‘Danda Ooncha Rahe Hamaara’ authored by Dr. Monojit, a well known Punjabi satire writer and translated into Hindi by MS Kaamra.
SS Oberai was the special guest on this occasion whereas Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages presided over the programme. Sanjiv Bhasin, Vice-President, HSM shared the dais. The programme was attended by a number of intellectuals and literary personalities.
The programme started with the welcome address by Rakesh Abrol, General Secretary, HSM. He gave a brief about the organization.
Dr Baljeet Singh Raina put light on the life and contribution of Dr. Monojit in the field of satire writing.
Mehnaz Choudhary presented her paper on the book released. In her paper, she informed about the depiction of various aspects, and the theme of the book as a satire on the contemporary social, religious and political issues prevailing in the present world.
In his presidential address, Dr Arvinder Singh Amn said that translation work is a challenging job for writers. He said that there satire writing is not so wide spread as it ought to be. He said the flavor of satire of Dr. Monojit is beyond any comparison.
SS Oberai while expressing his views on the work of satire of Dr Monojit elaborated on Satire and various kinds of creating humour and its relevance in Dr Monojit’s satire writing.
Speaking on this occasion, Dr. Monojit expressed his views on the process of his creative endeavours and the various phases of his literary journey. MS Kaamra also expressed his views on this occasion.
Prominent among others who were present on this occasion included Prof Lalit Magotra, Dr Pawan Khajuria, Dr Nirmal Vinod, Dr Deepika, Dr Baljeet Singh Raina, Devinder Singh Vishwanagrik, Jang S Verman, Mohan Vaid, Anil Azad, Monto Dutta Sharma, Girija Sharma, Balwinder Singh Jammu, Pritam Singh Anjaan, Dimple Verma, Suraj Singh Suraj, Gopal Sharma, Gurdeep Kour, Amanpreet Kour, Harbhajan Singh Upasaka and others.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Uma Sharma, Literary Secretary, HSM-J.
