Srinagar, July 21: The National spokesperson for the Bhartiya Janta Party and Minister of Industries in Bihar Government, Syed Shahnawaz Hussain, today said that the victory of Draupadi Murmu in the Presidential election is historic because she will be the country’s first tribal leader to reach the top post.
Hussain made these remarks on the sidelines of the function that was organized by the BJP’s Kashmir unit to celebrate the election of Murmu as president of India.
He said this day will go down in the annals of Indian history as a woman from the tribal community was elected President. “Nothing could be a source of greater joy than today, and we are all gathered here to celebrate her triumph as celebrations are taking place all around the nation,” he said.
The BJP leader said people have flocked here in large numbers to celebrate the victory, just like the rest of the nation. “I am congratulating the entire party for this victory,” he said.
He said it is commendable that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the entire BJP team chose and backed such a candidate. “It is a major victory for all of us,” he said.
Hussain said that she received support from certain members of the opposition parties, which says a lot about her personality. “I am grateful to everyone who voted in her favor and it is the biggest win,” he said.
