Medanta starts ENT, Head, Neck Cancer OPD Clinic in Jammu

JAMMU, Sept 17: Medanta has started 10th Super Speciality OPD clinic of ENT and Head Neck Cancer, here.
The said OPD clinic has been inducted in the Medanta in Jammu with the consent of Dr Naresh Trehan, Chairman and Managing Director of Hospital.
Dr Deepak Sarin, Associate Director and Head of Department, Head Neck Oncology Surgery will render his services from September 19 (3rd Thursday of every month).
Giving reply to media, Dr Sarin told that there are some head and neck cancer symptoms that are common to several sites include a lump or sore that does not heal, a sore throat that does not go away, difficulty swallowing, and a change or hoarseness in the voice. Other symptoms of head and neck cancer may include like ulcer or painless sore in the mouth that does not heal within 14 days, a lump in the mouth or neck, difficult or painful chewing or swallowing, thickening of the cheek, numbness of the mouth or face, hoarse voice that lasts a long time, white or red patches in the mouth, difficulty moving the jaw or tongue, dentures that don’t fit well, loose teeth, problem in speaking, bleeding or pain in the mouth or on the lip Flat, hard spot on the outside of the bottom lip and a wart-like growth in the mouth.
It is important to have any of these changes checked by your doctor or dentist. Having these symptoms does not always mean the person has cancer, but because it could be cancerous, it is recommended that you visit the dentist and get it checked out, he added.
Dr Sarin also gave some tips to preventing oral cancers including no to smoking and tobacco, sun exposure, eat a well balanced diet, keep a watch yourself and visit your dentist regularly.
