JAMMU, Sept 13: BJP MP and Party Prabhari for the State Avinash Roy Khanna today assured the displaced people from Valley that his Party was solidly behind them and will continue full support to their struggle for their honorable and dignified return and rehabilitation in Kashmir Valley.
Mr Khanna who was chief guest in celebrations of Sharda (Ganga) Ashtami at Sanjeevani Sharda Kendra Anand Nagar Bohri here this afternoon urged the community to continue the struggle for its rights.
Mr Khanna accused both State as well as Central Governments for ignoring the displaced people from Valley and said that people outside J&K are not fully familiar about the J&K situation. The BJP is trying to present the real picture of J&K before the people all over the country besides highlighting the plight of refuges, he added.
He also highlighted the role of Kashmiri Hindus in promoting the ethos of Indian culture and lamented that this great and peace loving community stands now marginalized and is living in exile for last 24 years from their cherished homeland.
Turning tables over both Centre and State Governments he accused them of total failure in rehabilitation of Pandits in Valley. He also accused the Centre and Omar Abdullah Government of having no broad policy on restoration of pluralism in Kashmir.
Swami Ekarthanand Ji Maharaj of Ramakrishana Ashram Mission Jammu who was the guest of honour on the occasion recalled how Swami Vivekananda became enraptured by the beauty of Kashmir and its spiritual glory. It was only in Kashmir that Swami Vivekananda received the inspiration and was enlightened when he visited the holy cave of Lord Shiva in Amarnath and the sacred Shrine of Mata Khirbawani.
The function was presided over by eminent scholar Dr R L Shant who asked the Kendra to render efforts so that the Hindus of State are allowed to visit the most holy Shrine of Goddess Sharda presently in Pak occupied Kashmir.
The speakers also stressed on passage of Shrines and Temples Bill without any dilution.
On the occasion A K Razdan a noted writer and Sahitya Academy Award winner was presented with Sharda Puraskar a shawl and a citation. Bindraban Sher a well known social activist read the paper on the literary works of Mr Razdan on the occasion.
The welcome address was delivered by Prof T N Shalla the senior Trustee of the Kendra and the programme was compared by Radhaya Shayamji.
A large number of people attended the function. A Maha Yagya was also solemnized at Kendra on the occasion and devotees were served with prashad after Puran ahuti.
