JAMMU, Mar 25: People held protest against Power Development Department (PDD) for imposing unscheduled power cuts and also blocked the Jammu-Pathankot National Highway here today.
A large number of people assembled at Nai Basti and held protest. They raised slogans against PDD for imposing unscheduled power cuts.
Later, the protestors blocked the Jammu-Pathankot National Highway. A large number of vehicles got stranded due to closure of the highway.
The protestors alleged that PDD is imposing unscheduled power cuts during the ongoing hot weather conditions. Due to power cuts, people are facing manifold problems.
After getting information, senior officers from the administration rushed to the spot and assured the protestors of redressing their issue.
On the assurance, the protestors dispersed and vehicular movement was restored on the highway.
However, a case under FIR Number 69/2022 under Sections 341 and 147 IPC has been registered against unknown protesting people at Police Station Gandhi Nagar and investigation started to identify the miscreants, who created chaos and blocked the vehicular movement on the Jammu-Pathankot National Highway.
