After a hiatus of 137 days, the oil marketing companies had increased the fuel prices by 80 paise per litre on March 22 and 23. The petrol in Delhi now costs Rs 97.01 per litre while diesel Rs 88.27 per litre, according to price notification of oil marketing companies.

The fuel prices were not increased for the last over 4 months presumably due to Assembly elections in the five states in spite of crude oil prices increasing in the international oil market due to the Russia-Ukraine war.
Some oil marketing companies had raised the bulk diesel prices by Rs 25 a litre last week.
