NEW DELHI : The demand for talks for creation of separate Gorkhaland was strongly opposed by the Trinamool Congress in the Lok Sabha, leading to adjournment of the House till 1400 hrs.
When the House re-assembled for the Zero Hour, BJP member from Darjeeling Jaswant Singh requested that the Centre intervene on the demand of Gorkhaland Janmukti Morcha.
An irritated Kalyan Banerjee of the Trinamool Congress suddenly turned abusive to Mr Singh and said his party could not be a party to such action (creation of Gorkhaland).
Mr Singh said there was no dialogue between the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha and the West Bengal government and it was vital that the Centre stepped into for bringing peace in the area.
Nothing could be heard amid prevailing din as Mr Banerjee was shouting and gesticulating and walked menacingly to the well but stopped short of entering it.
Some members came in defence of Mr Singh but that could not save the situation.
Thereafter, Speaker Meira Kumar adjourned the House till 1400 hrs.
Earlier, the House was adjourned during Question Hour over the Supreme Court judgement on no reservation in speciality and super-speciality courses in medical college including All India Institute of Medical Sciences. (AGENCIES)
