Holy mace taken to Chakreshwar, 982 perform darshan

SRINAGAR, Aug 7: The Chhari Mubarak of Swami Amarnath Ji was taken to ancient Chakreshwar temple Hari Parvat by the custodian of holy mace Mahant Deepender Giri to pay their obeisance in the temple as per age old traditions.
The Mahant Ji was accompanied by a large number of Sadhus and other devotees on the occasion.
The Chakreshwar, which is the abode of Goddess Sharika Bhawani popularly known as Tripursundari is the presiding deity of the Srinagar city who manifested herself in a figure of Shila (holy rock) at Hari Parvat.
Sadhus on the occasion prayed for everlasting peace of the State.
The True Trust founded by Mahant Deependra Giri Ji will make all the arrangements for Sadhus and other devotees coming from across the country to join the Charri Mubarak of Swami Amarnath Ji yatra including their food, accommodation and transportation during the pilgrimage.
Mahant Ji also disclosed that the traditional Chhari Pujan will be performed on the occasion of Nag Panchami which falls on August 11 at Shri Amreshwar temple, Akhara building Budshah Chowk, Srinagar.
Meanwhile 982 pilgrims performed darshan at holy cave today taking the total number of pilgrims visiting holy cave so far to 3, 47,270. Till yesterday 3,46,288 pilgrims had performed darshan at cave shrine.
According to an official spokesman 305 pilgrims left for holy cave from Baltal base camp via shortest track while 182 left by air. He said 718 returned from cave shrine to base camp Baltal by foot while 230 returned by air today.
The spokesman said 295 pilgrims left from Nunwan base camp to holy cave via traditional Chandanwari track early this morning.
A fresh batch of 101 pilgrims left Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu Yatri Niwas for holy cave in three buses early this morning under tight security arrangements.
Meanwhile a group of six pilgrims from Calcutta in West Bengal today alleged that they were denied the permission to perform darshan at holy cave on August 10 by the officials at Yatra registration counter Panta Chowk, Srinagar today and instead were given the darshan date of August 9 against their wishes.
Protesting against the behavior of the officials at the yatra counters these pilgrims said that despite the shortfall of 14,000 pilgrims daily as per the target set by the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board, the officials were denying permission to pilgrims to pilgrims intending to perform darshan in the cave shrine as per the date of their choice.
