BJP to hold joint Core Group meeting of UT, districts for first time tomorrow

JAMMU, Jan 7: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is holding joint Core Group meeting of J&K UT and all its districts for the first time on January 9 at party headquarters, Trikuta Nagar here.
Among others, national general secretary of the Party and incharge J&K and Ladakh Union Territories, Tarun Chug, Union Minister, Dr Jitendra Singh who is also the member of J&K Core Group of the party and Seh Prabhari, J&K, Ashish Sood will participate in the meeting which besides, the organizational issues will discuss the prevailing situation in the UT as well as the recent security lapse in Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s security during his visit to Punjab.
According to sources, the party for the first time has decided to hold the Core Group meetings of districts and UT jointly to create a more liaison and understanding among the party men and further strengthen party in the UT. This practice has been evolved by the party all over the country from this year, sources said.
The joint Core Group meeting will be attended by the party’s Core Group members of all districts of J&K as well as heads of Party Morchas, sources said, adding the meeting will be chaired by party’s J&K UT president, Ravinder Raina, while MP, Jugal Kishore Sharma, party national secretary, Dr Narinder Singh, four general secretaries including Ashok Kaul, Dr D K Manyal, Sunil Sharma and Vibodh Gupta besides former Minister, Sat Sharma and its chief spokesperson, Sunil Sethi will participate in it.
Talking to Excelsior, party national general secretary, Tarun Chug said that the main agenda of the meeting will be further expanding BJP’s base and strengthening the party in the J&K UT by bringing more people into party fold. The party will devise strategy during the Core Group meeting in this regard, he added.
This will be the main political agenda of the party in the meeting he said, adding that the district leaders are the base of the party who brought it to this level and now the party strategy would be how to expand it further.
When asked, “whether Core Group devise any strategy for the Assembly elections in J&K”, Chug said the elections can be held at any time and BJP is always in election mood.
However, a senior leader of the party said that this type of joint Core Group meetings have been held for the first time in entire country from this year and the main thrust of it is to create an understanding among party leadership how to work jointly.
He said the party’s forthcoming programmes and strategy for the same will also be discussed in the joint Core Group meeting. Besides, a peaceful agitational programme against the breach in PM’s security during his recent visit to Punjab will also be devised.
He said like Yuva Morcha, other organs of the Party will hold peaceful protests at different places. In this regard, he added, the SC Morcha will hold protest in front of statue of Dr B R Ambedkar while the Intellectuals Forum will write letters to Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
He said such a major security lapse during PM’s visit is a grave issue and party has decided to launch protests all over the country against it as Prime Minister does not belong to any party but nation as a whole.
He said when BJP was in opposition it never stooped to such a low level and it always gave due respect to the Prime Minister whether of Congress or any other party as PM belongs to entire nation and not any political party.
He said those who have lost power will stoop to such a low level is not good for the democracy and the nation, so BJP has decided to mobilise public opinion against such undemocratic practices.
He said, the other organizational matters will also figure in the meeting.
